I painted this view of the Venetian lagoon as a study of sky — wide, shifting, and full of quiet emotion. The land and water remain low and distant, almost secondary, while the clouds take over the scene, dissolving into soft layers of blue, grey, and light. While working on this watercolor, I let the pigment move freely, allowing the sky to form naturally, like a memory rather than a precise place. For me, this piece is about openness — that feeling of standing by the sea and looking far beyond the horizon, where everything becomes lighter and less defined.
